Thanks, Courtenay! Not usually my kind of music, but I do like Harvest Moon for some reason!

A pleasant sound which I'd not heard before, Number 6.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

Re: Last Song You Listened To
On Classic FM Requests yesterday, someone asked for a specific string quartet arrangement of My Love by Paul McCartney, which was absolutely beautiful. This obviously isn't the exact recording (it says it's a rehearsal), and I can't remember whether it's the same group, but it does sound like the same arrangement: My Love — Echo String Quartet

Re: Last Song You Listened To
Forever autumn is one of my all time favourite songs....in fact the whole war of the worlds soundtrack album is fantastic.
The last song I listened too (apart from the songs on the telly at the moment from pitch perfect) was songbird by Christine mcvie of Fleetwood Mac. Eva Cassidy did a cover version but I much prefer Christine's original.

Love Christine McVie's 'Songbird'. It's been a favourite of mine for years.

This song was first performed in 1930 in the UK by Gertrude Lawrence, for whom it was written. In the USA, it was first performed by Libby Holman. It became one of the great standards of the 20th. Century. It was composed by Johnny Green.

Re: Last Song You Listened To
Just won a trilogy of books I wanted (non-EB) on eBay for the eye-watering, bank-breaking price of... £0.99 + £2.90 postage. I don't actually buy very much on eBay other than books and the occasional other useful item like supplies for my cross stitch addiction, but for some reason I was reminded of this amusing song about people who buy all sorts of useless knick-knacks on eBay: Weird Al Yankovic — eBay Worth a listen if you know anyone like that... or you are anyone like that.

Roy Fox and his Orchestra - You Oughta Be in Pictures
https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 8/19:41:08" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Roy Fox was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1901. At the age of 16 he joined Abe Lyman's Orchestra as a cornettist, where he developed a soft style of playing and became known as 'The Whispering Cornettist'. In 1920 he formed his own band. In 1930, the band came to London. In 1931, the band returned to the USA, but Fox stayed behind. He formed a new band of British musicians and secured a residency at The Monseigneur Restaurant. In 1932. he fell ill with pleurisy and had to travel to a sanatorium in Switzerland. During his absence the band was run by his pianist and arranger, Lew Stone. After a few months, Fox returned but argued with the management about money, as a result of which the contract was cancelled. Lew Stone was then offered the contract and all the band except trumpeter, Sid Buckman, stayed with Stone. Fox formed a new band (including Buckman) and remained popular until 1938, when he fell ill again. He then moved to Australia, where he led the Jay Whidden band. He returned to England in 1946 and retired from band leading in 1952. He died in 1982, aged 80.
Denny Dennis (1913-1993) was a popular vocalist in the 1930s and was billed as 'The British Bing Crosby'.

Hozier. To the church
Despite it being my sort of era I don't much like the latest hits. I'm 37 going on 67 in my music tastes I think! I played in a brass band for all my high school years and then in the local brass band so love the old brass band classics too (most people think I'm a bit weird for that more never mind)
Anyhow back to the last song I listened to above....its fantastic. Viewer discretion is advised by the publisher of the video

Lew Stone and his Orchestra - You Couldn't Be Cuter
https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 5/20:55:06" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This song was introduced by Irene Dunn in the film, 'Joy of Living' in 1938. It was composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra (with vocal by Edythe Wright) had a No: 3 hit in America with it. Lew Stone's version (with vocal by Al Bowlly) was the most popular in Britain.
