Re: General Natter Room
Same here - I'd need quite a lot of time to think about this one. I'm not at all sure that I'd be able to work it out.
If I do attempt it, I'll let you know how I get on!

Re: General Natter Room
It's like a number of other puzzles that I've seen and figured out (or been shown how to do), but this one has extra complicating factors. It seems you're only able to direct each of the three questions to any one of the aliens — you can't ask one question and have all three of them answer it! That does make things difficult...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I don't think so, I believe you can have all of them answer the same question but I'm not sure.Courtenay wrote:It's like a number of other puzzles that I've seen and figured out (or been shown how to do), but this one has extra complicating factors. Re: General Natter Room
It ended up stumping me (and getting into my dreams last night), so I scrolled down to see how to find the answer just now and it's such a complicated process I can't quite get my head around it... well, I'm relieved to know that at least it's not one of those "oh, duh, if only I'd thought of that" puzzles with a really simple answer that just wasn't immediately obvious!!
I think I'll move on with my day and just be thankful I'm not likely to need to question any alien overlords today (as far as I can see)...

Re: General Natter Room
You can ask three questions, total.
So, yes, you could ask A, B, and then C the same question, but that would use up your three questions.
I don't have the time to spend on this that I would like right now, but my suspicion is that the answer would involve somehow either asking A all three of your questions, or else asking A two questions, and then one question of B.

Re: General Natter Room
Oh, it was much harder than that... I had to read the solution through several times and think hard about it before I understood how it worked, and even then my head was still spinning a bit. It was something I doubt I would ever have thought up in a month of Sundays, even though I normally enjoy logic puzzles. So I'm not particularly ashamed to say this one was a bit beyond me.

I love puzzles like this though I have to admit I'm not too good at them . This one had me stumped for days until the person gave me the answer:
What goes up a chimney down but not down a chimney up?

Got it, but I won't give the game away. It's a good one, IceMaiden.
Here's another one:
What belongs to you but others use it more than you do?

Re: General Natter Room
I can't believe myself that I solved Eddie's puzzle within seconds! I am not so good at puzzles or riddles especially in English. I won't tell my answer so that others can have a go.
But how to check whether my answer is the correct one?

Yes - I think I got both of those - though I'm not completely sure!
They reminded me of the old riddle 'What gets wetter the more it dries?'

Re: General Natter Room
Another good one, Rob.
I won't give the answer to IceMaiden's or Rob's puzzles, but the answer to my easy one
(What belongs to you but others use it more than you do?) is : your name.

Thanks, Wolfgang. Since Eddie has revealed the answer, there's no need.
I am so glad that I was correct after all!

Re: General Natter Room
I'd heard Eddie and Rob's riddles before but they're good'uns.
I can think of several answers, but as they're things that aren't normally put up chimneys they may not count!IceMaiden wrote:This one had me stumped for days until the person gave me the answer:
