You can now upload an avatar to the forums instead of hosting it on a remote site. Go to your profile to upload a picture (100 x 100 pixels, 30KB maximum).

Just testing to see if my avatar works properly. I'm not much good with these things

It's a bit blurred, any tips on how I can fix that? I had to resize the photo because it was really big, perhaps that's why?

Did you resize by altering the pixels? If you just alter the size by cm/ins, it gets a bit crammed up.

Yes, I just altered the pixels, but it took me a long time to work out how to do that. I've been trying to create my avatar for ages

You've got the resizing part sorted out okay! There are two things you could do here. Resize the original again (ie, start over) and when you go to save it as a jpg, this time check what options you have for quality. For an image this small it's worth setting it to 100% quality (or zero compression). Also, find a "sharpen" tool in your graphics program. There's probably one there somewhere!

Ah, zero compression, yes -- if only more people would use zero compression the world would be a better place.

By using a resizing program!

Or you can use Keith's excellent simplepictureresize.com. Make sure your avatar's dimensions do not exceed 100 x 100 pixels.
