I think Viv explained a little in the thread about Eileen Soper's Illustrated World
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Rather random this but a chap that I train with purchased an old pub (Newcastle Arms, Tuxford) with his mother a year or so back aiming to turn it into a gallery to display/sell her work and a number of other artists that they act for. It's still some way off being finished but I was given a sneak peak last week and whilst walking around I noticed a number of Eileen Soper books (Badgers, Illustrated world?) on a desk. I asked about them and was told they were the mothers and they had been acquaintances in the 70's!

Hi --Eileen Soper is the best illustrator of Enid Blyton books--the Famous Fives and many other short stories like Tales After Tea.She really had a magic touch about her illustrations. Her drawings of children were so very beautiful--they looked so very innocent.--Snehalatha

Although Eileen Soper is very good-the best in fact--Rene Cloke is almost close. She has illustrated quite a lot for Enid Blyton books.

Merged with an older topic.

I am almost done with reading the FF Annuals which I recently ordered and was wondering about two things

- did anybody ever attempt to create more FF illustrations in Soper's style later on? I mean for decades there were FF continuation stories written by several authors, French, German and also at EBS and eniblyton.net, but as far as I know nobody ever attempted to provide these "new" stories with Soper style illustrations

- did any forumite ever attempt to count the total of illustrations Eileen A. Soper did create for EB books? Is there a number out there?

Don't know how accurate this is?
Eileen Soper (1905–1990) illustrated around 50 Blyton books, including the whole Famous Five series. In the 1970s her illustrations for the Famous Five books were replaced with more contemporary ones by Betty Maxey.

Thanks for the link, Pete :).
Assuming Soper created 30 illustrations per book, she must have done around 1.500+ illustrations for EB books.
