Here's a seasonal glimpse of some of Treyer's other work.
Notice the blogger gets his name wrong in the title, then corrects in the blurb!

The Golden Book Of Carols Illustrated by Trever Evans
I like this old vintage book, there are 21+ beautiful illustrations by Treyer Evans. The book was printed in the 1940's.

Thanks, Pete. Those pictures are beautiful, as are the ones in The Christmas Book. Treyer Evans is also my favourite Find-Outers illustrator.

Enid Blyton had several illustrators with unusual names - Treyer (Evans), Anyon (Cook), Burgess (Sharrocks)...

Thanks for the link, Pete. They are beautiful drawings. Treyer Evans was certainly a better illustrator than J. Abbey.

Thanks for the link, Pete. Those really are beautiful and atmospheric illustrations. Treyer Evan's depictions of the festivities and occurrences of Christmastime really are brilliant. As well as these, his illustrations of Enid Blyton's: The Christmas Book are wonderful. They indicate so much skill - the ones which are silhouettes really are cosy and effective. The two sets of illustrations are very different, though, I think. Perhaps it's because some of the ones in The Golden Book of Carols are in colour...?

I have had that Carol book for as long as I can remember and learnt how to play most of the carols in it. The musical score is very simple. The pictures are beautiful.

I love his work - and his beautiful wrap-around DW for The Christmas Book has to be one of the best cover designs ever to grace an Enid Blyton book! :-)

Enid Blyton used to have the artwork for the cover of The Christmas Book hanging on her wall. In an article in Hello! magazine in November 1996, Gillian Baverstock said that had been passed on to her as well as the artwork for the covers of The Children of Cherry Tree Farm and The Children's Life of Christ, and a little picture of Mr. Goon "which was a Christmas present to my mother". That must be the one by Joseph Abbey.
