I had a few of the 'coloured-border books', and sold them as I didn't like them!

I bet they were the yellow ones! I was offered a full set of the blue ones about 15 years ago at £5 each. I turned them down and the seller offered them to a bookshop at a £1 each, but the shop turned that down as well as they thought they would be unable to sell them at a profit!

Uncle Quentin does look like a cool dude in the left hand picture - strangely it looks more dated than the much earlier Eileen Soper drawings of uncle Quentin.

I've got some of the blue-bordered Award books, I had them as a girl and they have a very nostalgic charm for me now, whenever anyone mentions Demon's Rocks I see that lovely cover with the lighthouse, and the bright pink cover of Together Again with Mr Wooh with his hand on his chin! :)

I've also got a Jolyne Knox-illustrated FF omnibus and the cover is from Get Into Trouble. The car is too modern but the old Tudor-timbered house is lovely in the moonlight, with the children hiding in the shadows.

They were indeed yellow ones, Tony!

I love Jolyne Knox illustrations! I think Jolyne is much better than Eileen A. Soper. I know that many people will disagree with me here, as , for some strange reason, Eileen is much more popular.
However, I am a big fan of Jolyne Knox. I wish that the books in which her illustrations are featured would be made available in the local bookshops. Unfortunately, I never see them around...:(

The "strange" reason Eileen Soper is more popular is because her illustrations are the best.

In YOUR opinion they are the best, John Pickup! They don't become best just because you think they are. And even if her illustrations are popular, that doesn't make them the best!

I put 'Jolyne Knox illustrator' into Google and was surprised that the website Goodreads has promoted her as it said - Jolyne Knox (Author of Five Go to Billycock Hill)! :lol:

I'll correct that if I can Tony. Often people put illustrators as additional authors and forget to set the role as illustrator.

This should look better now! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/123 ... ycock_Hill" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'll do it for the rest of the books she has worked on as well, but it might not stop that line showing up on Google.

I've corrected her role to illustrator on the editions I could see that were wrong, but that's really just the tip of the iceberg when you look at the mess the Enid Blyton entries are in on Goodreads. I could spend years correcting it all so I've decided only to make sure whichever book I'm reading is correctly listed most of the time.

Thank Goodness, Fiona! I can't believe they actually wrote that she was the 'author'.

And I can't believe you wrote this:

:shock:

Well both Enid Blyton and Jolyne Knox were down as authors as that's just how the system works, you can add an illustrator or editor but they have to go down as an additional author and you just add their role after.
