Brilliant Anita! Serves the old Dog right!
"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

I'm all for a good joke and for winding up our friend, Nigel, but I think that's overstepped the mark and is very unkind!

Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

It wasn't meant to be - I was stealing a joke from Professor Farnsworth on Futurama.

I'm not particular sure that Fatty said it, but I'm positive that Stubs, sorry, Snubby said it in at least one of the mystery books, I think it was Rubadub. Have to check out... Anita, do you know the answer? ;-)

I certainly remember Snubby saying it, though I think Fatty might have said it as well.

Thanks, Julie! I have had 'one foot in the grave' now for many years! In fact, that is preferable to the inference that a cradle-robber might be a paedophile, although I don't suppose Lossie had that in mind.

As for "getting off" (what a horrible expression) with Jemima, all joking aside, I have seen her act in many productions, and consider her a first class actress and a lovely young woman. Considering her involvement with an Enid Blyton series production, to meet her would be a delight and a privilege. I can assure you, Paul, there would be no improper behaviour from me if ever we did meet.

When our friend Paul is wearing his Lossie Laxton hat, he does become more devillish! The mix of personalities is the richness of these forums.

Neither am I! However, it was said by several characters, and I never saw the point. I think Dick and/or Julian said, "Ha ha! Joke over." several times. Again, rather a strange phrase.

It's not really that strange. Almost everyone says, "ha ha, very funny" sarcastically.

My children often say it to me. Sometimes I think they are trying very hard not to laugh at something I've said. Presumably it's not good for their 'street cred' to admit that their mother can actually tell a good joke

I didn't say that was strange - read carefully!

"Ha ha, joke over!" is what I think seems strange.
