That's a great bargain for somebody Rob.

The illustrations are in a different league to Betty Maxey's,although the chap with the gun looks like he really needs to go...

This is really cheeky of me I know, but is there any chance a fellow forumite could by this for me please? My Paypal account doesn't work any more nor does my E-Bay account and when I tried to sort it out it was all automated so I gave up.

Obviously I would send a cheque straightaway to whoever bought it for me. I completely understand if someone else is planning on buying it for themselves or just thinks it's colossal cheek me even asking, but as 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'.

I bet no one will feel they can buy it for themselves now, lol! - so it might end up that no one buys it from here. I just hope some dealer doesn't snap it up! I was hoping a fan would buy it, because there are only 350 of these books in existence! :-D

Well - someone bought it! If Katherine was lucky, I'm pleased - I wasn't getting at you, with my previous comment, Katherine - just worried that everyone would be too polite to buy it for themselves, knowing you'd like it, and so it might go to waste instead - ie to a fat cat collector!

Hope a real fan bought it! :-D

I agree the illustrations are slightly strange - but at least they are originals, and in period - but the characters bodies are badly out of proportion!

I would have bought it (for me, sorry, Katharine) but I missed it by half an hour!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I really do hope one of us bought it - it was a real bargain, as originally it cost £19.50. :-D

That's ok Rob, I hadn't thought about making anyone feel guilty, I was just about to go to work and saw the thread and rattled off my post. Oops.  I certainly wouldn't have wanted anyone else to not bid for it because of me. I too hope that someone on here got themselves a bargain, I'm sure my chance will come again another time. :D

Top of my 'to do' list tomorrow will be to get on the phone and sort out my Paypal and E-Bay accounts.

Thank you Katherine - I realised it might seem I was getting at you for being cheeky, lol! I didn't blame you - feel sorry you didn't get the book - someone bought it about three minutes after you commented! Maybe they've bought it you as a surprise! :-D
