Yes, I spotted this, and thought I'd bid...but its already going out of my price range and there are still 5 days to go! I paid £125 for my last Sunny Stories calendar but that was an exception rather than a rule! I don't think I would offer more than £45 for this, so I guess I'm going to be disappointed! I was hoping no one would notice it (some hope!)

I can never understand why people start to put in bids five or six days before the bidding ends! Seems silly to me. There's more chance of getting a bargain the later everyone leaves their bids, as early bidding just encourages prices to go up.

I hope you will get it, Rob. :D

I have made the rule that I will never acquire other than books or booklets when it comes to Enid Blyton. So no ephemera, games, toys and things like calendar etc for me. :D

I tend to go for one of each - so, one Enid Blyton Diary, one bestime puzzle, one sunny stories calendar -- unless they are quite reasonably priced! :D

I can't help thinking that would make a great birthday present for my dad, as his birth year is 1946 and he loves old collectable artwork and things like that — I'm sure he'd like the Brer Rabbit theme. But I don't think I could afford to pay the kind of price it's likely to go for and I wouldn't want to embarrass any member of my family with an exorbitant gift (I don't normally go above about £20 for birthday presents!) — and Dad might not appreciate being reminded how old he is anyway!

That's a lovely idea for a birthday present, Courtenay - especially as its your dad's birth year! I haven't bid...and I'm unlikely to, because I'm sure it will go up in price before it ends, as you say. :-)

Oh good — I was reluctant to bid if I'd be competing against other EBS members. Well, it hasn't gone up in price yet, so I will keep an eye on it, but I don't have much hope that it'll stay affordable. We'll see.

Oh, it's very unlikely I'll get it. Apart from the fact that the price will most likely go well over what I'd be happy to pay, I'll be working Sunday evening and won't be able to bid in the final few hours (or minutes, or seconds). So I'm already aware I don't really stand a chance.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised. :-( The one I bought last year (1944 calendar) was £125. I thought that was really steep - but I had some money to burn so I treated myself...obviously it was actually quite cheap!!!

I don't have that much money to burn, sadly — and, while of course I love my dad, I don't think he needs THAT expensive a birthday present!!  :P

I agree - I wouldn't have gone that high. £125 is the most I've ever spent on an Enid Blyton item. I don't willingly go over £50 - and even then that's steep for me usually.

Especially for a calendar that's 72 years out of date!
