Don't know how rare - good value this is? I haven't come across many.

Published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1992. Illustrated by Eileen Soper.

Hmm. Hen's teeth are rare but I wouldn't pay £40 for a set. Mind you, if you like the look of the book....

You might if you were a hen needing dentures. (Seriously, I wouldn't pay that for a "rare facsimile" either.)

£40 is far too much! I paid £7.50 for a mint copy in March 2015.

And took Chick out for a night on the tiles with the change from a tenner, no doubt! :D

Yes - £40 for that is way too expensive in my view - although its a good way to get the original style wrapper, I guess - usually at a much cheaper price. I have a copy of this facsimile book in excellent condition for £4 in a charity shop about 10 years ago. The only thing I dislike about it is there's a barcode on the back...so not exactly a 'facsimile' then!!

I don’t like the barcode either, Rob.

You'd have thought, in facsimile editions, they would put the barcode on an easy to peel sticker, so it can be removed, as they do with the facsimile Rupert annuals.

Many thanks for all for the info about the price. I had no idea if that was a bargain or not.

Has anyone ever seen an original 1942 edition priced more than this one??? Seems a bit steep?

And then the shipping is £15 lol!

No - never seen a first edition that expensive...but then again I tend not to focus in on things if they are in four figures!

Mind you, that's shipping from Australia to the United Kingdom, since the seller is in New South Wales. If you want even bigger figures, AbeBooks' "convert currency" option tells us £7,397.94 in Australian dollars would be $13,038.34.
