TWO Famous Five LPs - 1970s

Post by Rob Houghton »

Two LPs of Famous Five stories - Treasure Island and Mystery To Solve. Treasure Island has photo of TV series.

I know some people here collect these from the 1970s so just thought I'd post this here.

£14.99.

I remember seeing these in WHSmith and Woolworths in the 1970s. The price varied- £21.75 comes to mind. There was a price difference of several pounds (£6-7) between the two shops- wish I could remember which was the cheapest.(£21.75 was the cheaper of the two).

That was unbelievably expensive in the 1970's!!! Unless I got your meaning wrong? Most LP's would have been around £2.50 - £5.00 at the most!

Yes, I think Rob's right. There is no way they would have been £20+ in the 1970s. The only records that were ever anything like that price were specialist Japanese imports that you occasionally saw in the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street, London. Certainly not in WHSmith's or Woolworths.
