Along with the "Doesn't post to Germany" notice . I wonder if you read "Five on Finniston Farm" too many times .Rob Houghton wrote:I don't usually provide links to my own books, because some might think i overprice them, but compared to the one shown, I think mine are fairly reasonably priced!

Re: Signed copies of Famous Five books
Unfortunately I don't even post to the isle of Wight! Or Ireland. I have tried, when i first started selling my books, and discovered the £2.80 postage doesnt even get my book to the Isle of Wight!
I use eBay postage labels and prices are so hard to list if I have to have all different ones for different countries...and become so expensive also. Its much easier for me to just post in mainland UK at the moment, but I might branch out eventually!

Re: Signed copies of Famous Five books
I love to find a book with an inscription of some kind inside, I see yours had been awarded as a first prize to Philip Lloyd. I wonder where he is now, and how he's progressed in life since that presentation.

I do too! I often wonder what became of the owner, what they were like, how often they read the book, if they are still alive etc. If a book could only talk!

The Isle of Wight should be okay, Rob, it is just a Portsmouth Postcode (PO). Even the Channel Islands simply have a UK postcode and anything with a UK postcode is standard UK rates, I send Journals to both. If eBay are telling you otherwise they are wrong!

Rob, on the heading you say the book is a 1964 edition but in the description lower down you say the book is a 1946 edition.

Well spotted! Thanks! It is a 1964 edition, so I will go and change that info!John Pickup wrote:Rob, on the heading you say the book is a 1964 edition but in the description lower down you say the book is a 1946 edition.
Now I'm confused. I've changed certain settings, as I found out from the Royal Mail website that Scottish Isles, Isle of Mann and Scilly Isles are all UK postage...but they exclude the Isle of Wight! This was on the Royal Mail's own website!Tony Summerfield wrote:The Isle of Wight should be okay, Rob, it is just a Portsmouth Postcode (PO). So you're saying I can also include the Isle of Wight? If so, I'll alter my settings again! According to eBay I can also send to Northern Ireland...but according to Royal Mail, I can't!

You don't have any signed by Enid, do you, Rob?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Yes, the Isle of Wight is fine, it doesn't even have its own postcode, just a Portsmouth one as I said above. Certainly Northern Ireland is fine too, I send quite a few Journals there, a BT (Belfast) postcode. As of course are all Scottish Islands - I have a member in the Orkneys. In simple terms anything with a UK postcode is fine and I am rather surprised that the Royal Mail say otherwise!

Well, they don't include Isle of Wight - but maybe they just presume everyone would already know!

Just make sure it really is Enid and not Gnid. Or Grud.

I've "followed" you on eBay, Rob. (I didn't know you could even do that. It was favourite sellers, last time I looked!) I already like the look of a few of your listings. This could go badly for my purse

They wouldn't even bother to mention the Isle of Wight any more than they would mention Anglesey. What does surprise is that they put Channel Islands under overseas, but I have just checked out the prices of several different things for Jersey and they are all exactly the same as the UK - but I knew that anyway!
