It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Don't blame you, John!John Pickup wrote:I'm not following you, Rob, until I know where you're going.
With so many people following me, maybe I should put my prices up!

Re: Signed copies of Famous Five books
My estimate of this seller has gone way down.
I noticed he had a dust jacket version of Smuggler's Top in one of his photos, which he hasn't listed yet, so wrote to ask if it would be for sale as I might be interested.
I expected it to be the same price as Mystery Moor (£75 and free postage) but as soon as he knew I was interested he informed me that as it has a wrapper, it would cost £95.
So...I told him I would of course only be willing to pay the same amount as the Mystery Moor book, and I wished him good luck with selling them all.

Not good, Rob, I agree. As I said earlier, given the condition of most of those books (barely even "fair" in some cases, with torn dust jackets and bits ripped out of pages), I reckon even £75 is a bit too much. I wouldn't give him my money, especially not after what you've just shared.

I agree. Of course, Smugglers Top may be better quality...I can't tell by the one small photo he has of it...but I didn't like the fact he put the price up by £20 just because he knew I was interested. He could have listed it as being £95 and let me decide when I saw it, but to hike it up to £95 as soon as I showed an interest seemed a bit oportunistic to me. Its not like he's actually sold any of the books for £75 as yet!
