Forging Enid's signature could lead to difficulties as Prue Leith discovered

Re: Signed by Enid? Not convinced!
It finally sold for £51 - not as much as I thought it might go for. Seems to show that many people were well aware that it wasn't a genuine signed book. It's a nice book in its own right, with a good dust wrapper - but that fake signature put me off it! I'd have maybe gone up to £30 at a stretch!

What about this one? Look genuine?

Genuine one again for comparison.

That looks genuine to me, as it's on a proper Enid Blyton plate -- but of course, even those could be faked!

Anyone any thoughts on whether this signature looks genuine?

I never feel able to judge! The signature looks genuine to me, but the 'Best Wishes' isn't quite her style.

The "B" in the word Best is a major giveaway! The fake is obvious!

Re: Signed by Enid? Not convinced!
Too right. Why would Enid write a capital B one way in her surname and an utterly different way in "Best wishes"??sixret wrote:The "B" in the word Best is a major giveaway! The fake is obvious!
Also, I remember Tony saying elsewhere that Enid almost always wrote "Love from Enid Blyton" when she signed a book — so if it says anything other than "love from", as this does, it's almost certainly a fake.
Where did you find that one, Pete — is it in your own collection?

I was going to ask if this one is also fake, but I think it's probably the same one!

This on the other hand looks real:

But how do you tell if it really is genuine or not?

The first one is exactly the same case here.

Does the date on the letter have any significance I wonder?
