Signed by Enid? Not convinced!

I'm not convinced this is a genuine EB signature...?

Indeed. Looks to me, too, like the signature is faked.

Notably the "n" and especially the "y" in Blyton.

And the two short lines below. They were almost always close together.

Maybe it's another Grud Blyton. :D

Thanks for confirming, Tony! It does look like another 'Grud Blyton' lol! Its a shame because the book is quite a nice copy...but it would put me off having that signature inside it!

Definitely not!! Awful!! There are so many around at the moment... A shame as I am sure there are folk taken in by them. Happy weekend everyone. x

I've bought a few things from this seller in the past and they have always been reasonably priced and honest, so I'm assuming they are genuinely taken in by the signature too. 8)

It's still at only £1.20 after two bids, so I suspect not very many serious buyers are taken in by it.

The second N is a capital, that would be the biggest give away to me!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Someone should contact the seller and say that sadly the signature isn't real!

Plus the D is nothing like Enid's usual one — looks more like the would-be autograph forger slipped with the pen!! :P

plus the 'y' is curly and Enid's were usually straight. I reckon it's not even a forgery as such, just a child copying her signature. Surely a proper forgery would be a lot more like Enid's signature than this is!

Funnily enough I was just looking through my 1976 version of 'Five Have A Wonderful Time'.I noticed that back then, aged about eight or nine I had tried to copy her distinctive signature....

I decided to compare them all together:

Enid's genuine signature.

The ebay Secret Mountain 'signature'...

Image
My attempt aged about eight...

Image
Another attempt from me about forty years later...

And a last unusual one....

Great tattoo, Pete! I used to forge Enid's signature and write it in some of my books. Maybe some of them have now found their way to eBay!
